You might be wondering- What IS Mommy n Me yoga class? Well, it’s not your typical yoga class- just as having a baby will remind you that nothing about life is typical anymore. Mommy n Me yoga is a time when you can take some time to breathe and move with your newborn. This class is best suited for babies who cannot crawl or walk yet… but all ages, sizes and abilities are welcome. We start the class off with a moment holding our child close to our hearts. It is said that when people are close, their heartbeat and breathing begins to synchronize. We know that children (especially young babies) are like sponges- they absorb the energy that we give off -whether that is anxiety and tension, or peaceful calm. Mommy n Me yoga is a time to slow yourself down and share a calming energy with your baby. We will do a few baby yoga poses- which involve gently stretching the baby into an easy twist or gently bending and straightening his or her legs. This encourages movement (as well as is a great reliever of gas pain and helps bowel movements). Then the Mommy gets to do some yoga poses, while still staying connected with eye contact (while the baby is on a blanket on the mat) or by holding the baby while moving through the traditional yoga asanas. The great thing about Mommy n Me yoga on ZOOM is that no one will feel embarrassed by a crying, fussy baby. You can always mute yourself or take some time to soothe the baby during the yoga practice. The intention is to simply have some time devoted to getting on the floor, moving your body, breathing some deep breaths and also connect with other mothers who are going through the same challenges as you are.
Current class is Friday at 10:30 (it’s approximately 45 minutes long and costs $8)
